Pine Mountain Fun Run

Only five brave souls were willing to face the 33 degree morning: John Dove, Jay Hallinan, Mike Hopton, Jim Mussleman and yours truly, Sarah Tynes. We met at 5:45 am to drop supplies at the road crossings, finally beginning our fun run at 6:40. The sunrise was exquisite, the sky was clear, and we couldn't have picked a better day to be on the trail. John, Jim and Jay all reached turnaround (23.1) miles and declared they'd had enough fun for one day. Mike Hopton continued on, though, to ~32 miles, wanting to get in a bit more fun. I was only there to run a few miles and then serve as crew and support for others. Much fun was had by all, and I took advantage of the non-race attitude to stop and enjoy some of the sights along the way. This is a beautiful trail year round, but fall brings special colors and views.

Look for the return of the fully loaded 46.2 mile race in 2005!
