FAQ
How hard is the course?
The course is 8 hours hard. To put that into perspective, the previous course at Clyde Shepherd was only about 5 hours hard because the first 3 hours were easy. There are roots, rocks, sand, at least one blow down, and two climbs each loop. Those climbs will be very easy the first few times you do them.
When will the entry list be posted?
The final entry list the week before the race. Confirmation emails will be sent to all entrants to the email address provided on the entry form. If you're worried about your competition, just assume that several previous champions will return and the pace at the front will be brisk.
Is there a wait list?
Yes. If you'd like to be added to the wait list, please
. An entry form will be emailed to you when a spot is open. You will have 48 hours to let me know if you want to run. If not, your name will be removed and I'll go on to the next person.
I'm a wuss. Do I have to be out the for 8 hours?
Well if you're a wuss, you should probably stay far away from Hot to Trot, But to answer your question, no. A lot of folks will only run a few hours then leave. Some have a mileage goal, and once they reach that, will stop. You have 8 hours to accumulate as many or as few miles as you wish.
Does the race provide electrolyte pills?
No. You will need to bring your own. We will have a eloctrolyte drink and lots of salty foods. But you must bring your own electrolytes. And just to be clear, you WILL need them.
Does the race provide pain relievers (Tylenol, Motrin, etc)?
No. Again, bring your own. Taking such medications in conjunction with dehydration greatly increases the risk of renal failure. We will not take that responsibility
